The reason both exist is simple. Some drivers want to drive and cash a clean weekly check. Others have already built their own authority and don't want to give it up — they just want their truck loaded and their rates fought for. Those are different people with different problems, and pretending one product serves both is how drivers end up in the wrong deal.
What doesn't change either way: no forced dispatch, weekly settlements, dispatchers who answer the phone, and numbers we'll say out loud.
